Messrs. Bellingham and Croe'- Home and School Group Needs More Members The pupils of grade five of the public school, under the direction of their teacher, Mrs. R. Steven- son, provided the program for the May 'meeting of the Haileybury Home and School Association when they presented their Empire Day play. They were assisted by Mrs. J. Weir at the piano. The meeting which was in charge of Mrs. E. E. Campbell, presi- dent, was the annual one but as the slate of officers is not complete, a list is not available. In addressing the members, Mrs. Campbell spoke of the fact that the Associa- tion has been faltering along for the past two or three years, with only the minimum three meetings being held last year because of lack of response and interest on the part of the members and par- ents in general, as the total mem- bership only number 45. The main accomplishment during the year was the assistance given to the principal, Mr. Blackwell, on Re- port Card Night, Parents' Night and Education Week. Continuing, Mrs. Campbell stressed the fact that inadequate membership hampered the Asso- ciation in carrying out a success- ful fund raising campaign and re- stricts the choice:of candidates for executive positions. Parents should endeavor to build a»~membership that. would have -- representation from every home' connected with the school. There is a°-special need for the active interest and partici- pation of the fathers of the com- munity who could and should pro- vide valuable leadership. In other nearby communities: Home and School Associations have been able to finance a diversity of projects which have benefitted their . stu- dents. Why cannot this Associa- tion do the same? A fifty cent CARD OF THANKS The family of the late Mrs. E. Cyr wish to thank Father Brunette, Father Lapointe, Dr. Arnold, Dr. Dunning, Sisters of Mlisericordia hospital, nurses and staff, friends and neighbours for kindness re- ceived during their recent bereave- ment.
