Haileybury Mr.' and Mrs. Leroy Hummel of Trout Creek were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Childs on Monday. John Hallworth, who has been on the staff of the Bank of Nova Scotia here, has been transferred to the Port Carling branch. Mrs. Norman Strong of Toronto, formerly of Haileybury, is a guest at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Sanderson this week. ; Charles Hallworth, who has been attending the Technical Collegiate at Sudbury, will be spending the summer months at his home here. Miss Theresa Venne, who gradu- ated from St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto on June 1, has returned to the hospital after spending a week at the home of Miss Rose Labine. During the summer months the Haileybury Public Library will be open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, both afternoon and evening. -- Y . Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart have their ~daughter -Dorothy, Mrs. Frank Stewart and children, Stew- art, Douglas, Patricia, Harvey and Andrew of Murdockville, Que- bec, staying with them until the end of August. Mr. Simpson will join them in September.~. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Mason and sons David and Andrew are leav- ing this week to make itheir home in Timmins, where Mr. Mason will be the chief geologist at the Aunor Gold Mine. Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Craig during the past week-end were their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Gib- bons and. children,' Allan, Marlin, Ruth, Jimmy, Kenneth and Ann of Sudbury. They were also accom- panied by their daughter, Joan, who is a nurse at Toronto General Hospital and who is on a two week holiday. Mrs. Eva Poppleton Funeral services were held from St. Paul's Anglican Church Friday afternoon, June 19, at two-thirty, for Mrs. Eva Poppleton, who has been ia resident of Haileybury for fifty-four years. Rev. Roy Nixon officiated atthe service. Mrs. Poppleton, whose health had not been good for about a year, died on June 16 at the home of Mrs. L. Nicholls, Lake Shore Road, with whom she has made her home for the past thirty years. She was born at Wakefield, Eng- land, eighty years iago and came to Montreal in 1904 with her husband the late Thomas Poppleton, and one year later, they moved to Hail- eybury. Mr. Poppleton died in 1912 and itwo sons, John and Russell, also predeceased her. Mrs. Poppleton is survived by one ison, James of Biarrie, and one sister, Mrs. William Baxter of Niagara Falls.
