C. Perron, who has been transferred to the parish of Ra- more, Ontario. A dinner prepared and served jointly by the ladies of the Altar Society and lady parishioners was most enjoyable, and was attended by a great number of the congre- gation. The tables, gaily decor- ated by large bouquets of early summer flowers were resplendent. Jack Lingenfelter spoke for the 'parishioners in paying high tri- bute to Father Perron for his 'un- selfish devotion to ithis parish, -to the very.degree of injuring his health. It was also brought to mind in Mr. Lingenfelter's address the great progress made in the parish in the formation of many youth organizations and in the parish it- self during Father Perron's stay. Father Perron was also highly complimented for his unselfish de- votion and was wished well in his new parish by Miss Theresa Quen- neville, who delivered a farewell message in French. Presentations were then.made to Father Perron as follows: George Quenneville presented Father Per- ron with a wallet containing a gift of money from the parishioners whom he served faithfully for sev- eral years. 4 Mrs. Ernest Boyce, President of the Ladies of the Altar Society, also presented Father Perron with a gift of money. The Knights of the Altar, represented by Bill Lingenfelter, made a presentation as did also Miss Anne-Marie Noel on behalf of the Handmaids of the Blessed Sacrament. Jack Lingen- felter presented a large bouquet of red roses from the League of the Sacred Heart, stating that the red roses were a symbol of love and devotion. Father Perron when addressing | the gathering, thanked all present for their thoughfulness He pointed out that, had his health permitted he never would have left his par- ' ish of North Cobalt and Latchford. | He said that he had become great- Phone North Bay GR 2-5170 for your @ CULVERT and DRAINAGE TILE @ CONCRETE BRICK Common and Colored SAND - GRAVEL - STONE @ CHIMNEY BLOCKS Square and Round Flue CONCRETE NEEDS Cinder, Concrete & Haydite J. He told those present that they must bear in mind that the great success and progress attributed to him in the past, was only possible because of the great co-operation he had received from his congregation. Father Perron's closing words of, 'I may be leaving you, but I shall never forget. you and a great part of my heart shall remain with you forever," will be remem- bered by the many grateful par-! ishioners present. Father Perron's successor will be Rev. Roland Be- cote of South Porcupine. Pickere! Contest The biggest pickerel caught during the past week and en- tered in the Speaker Contest was an eight pound, five ounce whopper landed by George Morris of Cobalt. Wayne Gray also caught a big one, which weighed five pounds, one ounce, after it had been clean- ed. Mr. Morris wins this week's prize, and if he will call at the office we will give him his covering letter to the sponsor- ing firm. It was planned that the con- test would end this week, but there is still one of the weekly prizes left, and so you have until July 5 to enter your big one. N.
