Cockshutt of Noranda were in town last week renewing old acquaintances. Miss Nancy Cockshutt, Noranda, is spending a holiday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Whitby. Mrs. Fred Burgman and child- ren, Toronto are in town visiting Mrs. Burgman's. mother, Mrs. R. D. Cumming. Mrs. Stan Roscoe, Dundas, On- tario, and three children, Peter, Janet and Elizabeth Ann are visit- ing Mrs. Roscoe's father, Mr. T. Pipe and sister, Mrs. John Hough. Mrs. R., J. Fleming and daugh- ter's Harriett and Denise left on Monday for a visit with Mrs. Fleming's parents in Warren, Ont. Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Slade and. family are expected this week-end for a visit with Mrs. Slade's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs, Fred Thomp- son, Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. N. At long last the portion of the sidewalk on Main Street that has been in bad shape for some time, is getting a new cover which will save the temper of many people. FAMOUS PIANIST Josef Casimir Hofmann was one of the most famous pianists of all time. Born in Poland in 1876, he became a child prodigy, appearing in concents at the age of six.
