. Thursday, July 16, 1959 The Haileyburian Page § Bird Banded By Local Bird Watcher Around the end of April, 1959, Mr. Sam Craig, Haileybury, pick- ed up in his garden a dead Even- ing Grosbeak. These birds left the district about a week later for the north. They summer in spruce forests between Souix Lookout and Red Lake. Mr. Craig noticing a band on the bird's leg had it sent to Washing- ton for identification. A reply from the Wild Life Ser- vice, Laurel, Maryland, U.S.A., dated June 30, 1959, was as fol- lows: Evening Grosbeak, banded at New Liskeard, Ontario, February 26, 1959, by Mr. T. J.
