Fraser Reavell accompanied his father on tthe trip to Montreal. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bellin, Buf- faid, New York, are visiting Mrs. Bellin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Thuerck, at present. Guests at the home of Mr. W. J. Lecky this week were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Money, Niagara Falls, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Boothe, Toronto. Mr. Boothe is British Trade Commissioner and is on a tour of the north. Also visiting Mr. Lecky is his father Mr. W. S. Lecky of Knowlton, Quebec. Mrs. John Turner and boys Ian and Jeffery are here for a visit with Mrs. Turner's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace Strong. Miss Sheila MacLean returned to her home in Montreal last "week-end after spending a month's holiday with her cousin, Miss Joyce Lecky. Mrs. Storey returned to her home in Montreal last week after a visit at the home of Mr. 'and Mrs. Horace Strong. Miss Clare Marcella returned home Monday from a trip to Tor- onto. Mrs. W. P. Corking and child- reen, Carolyn and Terry, Toronto, are in town and have taken up residence for a month in their former home, now the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. Jensen. Mrs. Fred Bradley and children Neil and Mary Ann of Brantford are home visiting Mrs. Bradley's parents Mr. and Mrs. Neil Mc- Isaac. Masters Johnny and Steven Gla- zier, Elliot Lake, are in town visit- ing their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.:B. Glazier. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Erickson and daughter Kim of Pittsburg, U.S.A., are in town visiting their parents, Mrs. Mary Erickson and Mr. and Mrs. M. B. Glazier. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Oatey and children, Peggy and Mary of Vir- giniatown are visiting Mr. Oatey's sister, Mrs.- Frank Smith. Also visiting at Mrs. Smith's is Miss Sally Lee of Kirkland Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston and family, Sandra, Claudia and Billie of Markham, former Haileybur- ians, are in town visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Whit- by. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Kergon and family, Johnny and Jennifer of Searboro, Toronto; are visiting Mrs. Kergon's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Speicher. Mrs. Murray Cawley left at the week-end for her. home in Noran- da 'after spending a week's visit with her parents Mr. and Mrs. A. Speicher. Mr. M. J. Foster is a patient in Misericordia Hospital at present having been transferred here from North Bay Hospital where he had been for some time. Mrs. V. Sulphur and Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Rouse and. children, Cheryl and Janice, returned home Sunday from a trip to Bancroft, Renfrew and other points. Mr. and Mrs. T. Clark and fam- ily, Toronto, were guests at the home of Mrs. J. H. White, the past week-end. Mrs. Bert Levelly spent the week-end in Elk Lake, guest of Mrs. Len Mallinson. Mr. and Mrs. Bart Sulphur of Blind River were in town the past Cobalt Welcomes Artist Colony COBALT--Sunny skies prevailed throughout last week when Cobalt welcomed the Second Annual Art- ist Colony of the N.O.A.A. which got under way on Monday, July 13th, when the artists were taken on a tour to the points of interest in the Cobalt area. On Tuesday the actual painting got under way and Cobalt streets proved to be a very popular choice and several chose some of the old mill sites. Last year the old mine shafts and properties were more popular. A welcoming party was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Armstrong Monday evening which gave the artists a chance to get acquainted. The evening was spent "talking art'? and a lovely lunch was served by the -hostess. On Wednesday the painting resumed and in the evening the artists met at the Cobalt Art Studio on the Square for coffee and the showing of slides of the first and second annual Spring shows. The Art sessions wound up on Saiuelay, and a pot luck supper, week-end visiting relatives. Mr. and Mrs. John Valentine and children, Ian and Michael, re- turned home Saturday after spend- ing a holiday at a camp at Lake Nipissing, North Bay. Mrs. K. Valentine who spent the past couple of weeks at a camp on Lake Nipissing, North Bay, re- turned home _ Saturday. Her daughter, Miss Lillian and Miss Mabel Karn of Montreal who were with her there, accompanied her home for a week's visit before leaving for Montreal this coming Saturday. on Sunday, sponsored by the Hail- eybury - Cobalt Art Club concluded a wonderful week for the Artist Colony..The supper was served at the cottage of Mrs. Hoskings at Twin Lakes, where several artists took advantage of the beautiful surroundings for more paintings. During the week some 40 paint- ings were completed by the Artists who thought Cobalt and its people were just wonderful. Nine artists attended from Sud- bury, Kirkland Lake, Noranda and one from Toronto. Great interest in art was shown by the local re- sidents as many took the oppor- tunity throughout the week to drop in to the local art studio to view the many paintings.
