Born in Cobalt, she was the daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. John Maher and received her early education at St. Patrick's School here before going on to St. Joseph Convent in North Bay, where she got her mus- ical training, which was to be her vocation in life. The honours that Miss Maher's. pupils brought to this district each year from the Music Festival were definite evi- dence of the musical talents Edna passed on to her, pupils. She was president of O.R.M.T.A. for several years as well as or- ganist and choir leader of St. Pat- rick's Church in Cobalt. She had been' a patient at the Scarboro General Hospital where her death occurred on Wednesday, August 26. The body was taken to Cobalt and rested at Buffam Funeral Home where friends paid their respects until the time of the funeral which was held on Saturday, August 29, at St. Patrick's Church. Requiem high mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. by Father T. Kavanaugh as- sisted by Father Jones of Kirkland Lake, Father F. Murray of New f | Liskeard, Monsigneur Dupuis, Can- on Caufield, and Father Lapointe. Interment was in the Roman Catholic cemetery at Mileage 104. Pall-bearers were Cyril and Rus- sell Bazinet, Jack Conroy, Len Cunningham, Tom Killoran, John Damiani. Surviving besides her parents are two sisters, Mrs. Alice Mooney of Toronto and Mrs. Aileen Roy of Timmins, one brother, Edwin Ma- her of Toronto. Among those attending the fun- eral from out-of-town were: Mrs. May Williams, Mrs. J. Cunning- ham, Kevin and Brian Cunning- Thursday, September 10, 1959 ham,' Mr. and Mrs. E. Kennedy, Mrs. J. Carrol and Lee, Mrs. R. Foley, all of Ottawa, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brosko of Noranda and many relatives and friends from the Tri- Town area.
