Mrs. Frank Simpson and child- ren Stewart, Douglas, Patricia, Harvey and Andrew, who have been visiting Mrs. Simpson's par- ents, Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart, since last June,-left last week for Palmerston to visit Mr. Simpson's parents. They will then go on to their home at Murdochville on the Gaspe Peninsula. Before leaving Haileybury, they visited Mr. and Mrs. Royce Cannel of Timmins and on their way south they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Doug Bra- mer in North Bay. Friends of Mr. and Mrs. D. R. Murray, who recently moved to Collingwood, will be interested to hear that they are now settled in their new home. Their daughter, Madelaine, lives with them and their son, James and his wife, are quite near them. : Corp. and Mrs. Keith F. Gag- non and children of Caledonia, Dumais - Roux Autumn flowers decorated Holy Cross Catholic Church for the wedding of Jeannine Roux and Lu- cien Dumais, with Rev. Father Leblane officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Roux and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs, G. Dumais, all of Haileybury. Givin in marriage by her father, the bride wore for her wedding a gown of white nylon lace over taf- feta, the floor-length skirt showing panels of lace and net, while the long sleeved jacket had a Peter Pan collar. Sequins 'and pearls were used to embroider the neck- line and also as a halo to hold her fingertip veil. She carried a heart of red roses and lily of the valley. Mrs. Doreen Batise as maid of honor, wore a Strapless _ street- length frock of blue net over taf- feta, with tiny Eton jacket and matching hat. The bridesmaid, Mrs. Grace Dupuis, wore pink net over taffeta with ruffled skirt and hat to match. Both attendants car- ried bouquets of pink roses with white baby mums. The groom was attended by Leo Dupuis as groomsman and Law- rence Dumais of Bancroft as best man. Following the ceremony a re- ception was held in the Orange Hall at North Cobalt, where the guests were recived by the bride's mother, wearing a dress of black) nylon crepe with white hat and ac- cessories. The groom's mother wore a light green suit with white accessories. Both ladies wore cor- sages of pink roses. The young couple will make their home in Haileybury. Out-of-town guests attending the wedding included Mr. and Mrs. L. Mr. and Mrs. M. Lavigne are holidaying in Red Lake. Mrs. J. T. McMahon is a patient in Misericordia Hospial. Mr. and Mrs. A. Charbonneau and children of Rouyn, were re- cent guests of Mrs. F. Brazeau. Mr. and Mrs. Don McInnes and children, Karen, Cynthia and Don, have returned after a holiday spent in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Steven Whelan were in North Bay on Sunday, where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Ron Truchon. While there, they acted as god-parents at the christ- ening of Mr. and Mrs. Truchon's little daughter, Nora Kathleen. Miss Jane Hall, nurse-in-train- ing at East General Hospital, Tor- onto, was a week-end visitor with iher parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hall. : With an average of .479, Peter Huard won the R. A. Morissette Shield for the highest batting av- erage in the Haileybury town soft- ball league, during the season just finished. Exam Results At St. Mary's The results of the Grade XIII ex- aminations written at St.~ Mary's Academy show excellent success for the students. Of the 74 papers written, twelve reeeived first class honors, twenty, second class hon- ors, nine third class' honors, twenty-seven passed and six fail- ed. In the violin class, Miss Fran- coise Caron obtained 86 per cent, which is the highest mark in the province in violin for Grades VII and VIII. She was awarded the Royal Conservatory medal, also the $40. Frederick Harris Scholar-}- ship for 1959. Both this gifted young musSician and her teacher, Sister Jeanne-du-Sacre-Coeur, are being highly commended for their work. Registration in September show- ed 142 boarding students in Grades 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13, plus 85 day students. The annual opening picnic was held recently and was a real joy for both former pupils and new- comers. Both the site and the temperature were ideal and after dinner in the open and a weiner roast supper by the lake, the pu- pils returned very happy. The ages of the girls will be from six to seven and the boys, six to eight. Another church organization takes care of the boys over eight. This year Africa will be thé country used as study material.
