Round The Square _ (Continued from page four) Ruddy is the first member of the Cobalt Ladies Auxiliary to be mar- ried since it was formed in 1939. The President Mrs. P. Winks thanked members for cards and gifts she had received during her stay in hospital. A gift donated by (Mrs. D. Moore was won by Laura Cole and Mrs. J. O'Rourke was the winner of a gift donated by Mrs. A. Lundberg. A social hour and lunch followed the meeting. "St. James W. A. Mrs. W. Lonsdale was hostess of St. James Anglican Church W. A. when they met recently at her home on Commission St. In the absence of the president, Mrs Isabelle Fildes, the meeting was presided over by- Mrs. A. Moore. Minutes of the previous meeting read and roll call showed 12 mem- bers as being present. Mrs. E: Greensidés reported thaving visited the hospital and taking gifts. Plans were made for a bake sale to be - held in the vacant Nugget Office. 'A discussion on the bazaar follow- ed and materials were handed out to the members. The bazaar will be at the Community Hall on Oc- tober 23. A lovely lunch brought the meeting to a close. St. Patrick Bingo Mrs. A. Babineau was the win- ner of the door prize at the bingo held in the Legion Lounge on Friday, September 18, sponsored by the St. Patrick Church Parish. Other winners were 1. Mrs. A. St. Jacques, 2. A wedding of interest to Cobalt residents ,was solemnized at St. James United Church, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on Saturday, Septem- ber 12 at 3 p.m. when Evelyn Jane Smith daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Smith. of Dartmouth, N.S., became the bride of Wayne (M. Fairbairn of the R.C.N. Shear- water N.S. son of Mrs. Les Steele of Cobalt. Baskets of gladioli form- ed an attractive setting for the wedding at which Reverend Mac- Donald of St. James Church of- ficiated. Mrs. Wm. Clarke, church organist presided at the organ and the soloist was Mrs. (Baker of Woodside, N.S. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white Peau de soie cut on princess lines and with long sleeves. Her veil was shoulder length iand she carried a bouquet of pink and white roses. Miss Dorothy Cross, cousin of the bride was maid of honour and the bridesmaids were Miss Eleanor Cross also a cousin and Miss Judy Mortson of Swastika, a cousin of the groom. They were gowned alike in street length dresses of bright blue peau de soie~ with lace bodices which featured big bows with hemline:streamers from .the V neckline at the back. They wore matching feather headdres- ses and carried white shasta dais- ies. Two little cousins of the bride acted as flower girls wearing cor- al peau. de soie with matching bandeaux and carried baskets of} shasta daisies. The best man was Bob. Harrison. of Saskatoon Sask., |§- and ushers were Doug DeGaust and Eugene Briere. The -bride's gifts to her attendants were ear- rings and the grooms gifts to the groomsman and ushers were cuff- links. In the evening a-dance was |, North Cobalt Pastor. Hans Fishbucker and Mrs. Fishbucker and son of North Bay were the guests of Mr. and Mie L. S. Lafoy over the week- end. Mrs. Ann Tasker of Victoria, B.C., accompanied by her sister-in- law, Mrs: Fred Porter of Ottawa, spent a holiday at the home of Mrs. Porter's daughter, Mrs. Gladys Gagne of Moore's Cove. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Cluney spent the week-end at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Groom and visit- ed other friends in town. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Simmons, son David and daughter Ellen of Lar- der Lake visited on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Lafoy~ Burt MacPherson accompanied by his daughter, Mrs. L. S. Lafoy, spent a couple of days. at the home 'of his brother Jim MacPherson and Mrs. macher. Thursday, September 24, 1959 Patrick Moore of Thorold, called on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B. MacPherson. Mrs. Thelma MacFayden left on Friday for home in Barrie after spending a week with her mother, Mrs. W. B. Page and Mr. Page. Misses Myra Simmons and Gin- ger Staples, nurses-in-training at Misericordia Hospital, Haileybury, visited on Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Lafoy. Dick Fenton of Niagara Falls, called on Monday at the home of his uncle, Harold Fenton and Mrs. Fenton. . The Haileyburian Train Late Train services were -badly dis- rupted Wednesday due to a wash- out on the track four miles north of North Bay.
