The film depicted the case of a young man suffering from lung cancer caused by heavy smoking and showed the actual operation and removal of one lung. A donation was approved to the Fire Brigade for the Santa Claus Fund. Cameron Findlay Hugh Cameron, a resi- dent of the north for many years died in Misericordia Hospital, Hail- eybury, Friday morning, October 9, followng an illness of several months. ~ Mr. Cameron, who was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Cameron, was born in Beckwith township, near Carleton Place on July 3, 1868, One of a family of seven, he learned the bricklaying 'trade and during his early life he operated a brick kiln in company -with his brother William. Later he became manager of the Brockville and Del- ta Lime Kiln. He was married September 29, 1908 to Miss Eva Weeks of Carle- ton Place. They made their home in Delta for a time, 'then came north to Haileybury, where Mr. Cameron built a home near ithe south end of the town. When it was destroyed by the fire of 1922, they moved to Cobalt and pur- chased: the house on Nickle St. that"has been their home ever since. His quiet and kindly disposi- tion made friends for him where ever he went. He will be missed and remembered as a good neigh- bor and friend. For many-years before his re- tirement, he was employed by the O'Brien and the McKinlay mines. The work he did as a brick and stone mason, particularly in fire places, all over the north, will re- main as a monument to his ability, for many years to come. Mr. Cameron is survived by his wife and 'two neices, Mrs. Jean Colbourne and Miss Elsie Camer- on, both of Carleton Place. Funeral services were conducted from Buffam's Funeral Chapel, Co- Te balt, Monday, October 12, with Pastor H. de Vries of the Hailey- bury Baptist church officiating, During the service Mrs. A. Svek- ers of Cobalt, sang "The Old Rug= ged Cross." Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Haileybury, with Mur- ray McKinnon, Robert Burnes, James Armstrong, Percy Lemon and Ivan Tresidder, all of Cobalt, and A. H. Cooke of Haileybury acting as pall-bearers. Dr. Mary McCallum of Smiths Falls and Dr. Kenneth McEwen of Toronto attended the funeral, At the time of the most recent census there were about 200,000 more men then women in Canada.
