MAC So thet we grumble and growl about, some little inconvenience or set-back that we didn't expect, or like, and sometimes, too, I think we, (and particularly me) get into toe habit . of complaining about little unimportant things, without really meaning what we Say. I clipped a little prayer recently, I think it was from the Salvation War Cry, that I want to share with my readers; The Farmer's Prayer I know I've grumbled, Lord, no end ' At the kind of weather you would 'send; The lack of rain 'way back last June' The floods that happened *bout full moon; The 'frost that struck. THE But, Lord, my heart is full dG awe-- ' My crops are best I ever saw! I cannot thank § You, Lord, enough, Although my prayers are kinda rough. But- after: this year's fiery test I figure, Lord, You know what's best! Isn't it true? "God's goodness is forever sure." This was brought home very clearly to me during the Thanksgiving week-end. My little six year old grandson devel- oped an aeute attack of appendi- citus and was operated on Friday morning. We had some anxious moments but now we are thankful that the danger is past and he is safely home again. Many of the older Haileyburians will remember Findlay Cameron, whose death occurred recently. I have had the. privilege of having the Camerons as friends for) many years, Mrs. Cameron, who came from my home town of Carleton Place and was a sister of Mrs. P. F. McEwen; my first school tea- cher, and Mr. Cameron since they came to Haileybury to live. In 'those days I was their "'little girl' and the title stuck" even tho my Jair turned grey over the years. Kindly, "humorous, 'sincere -- and ionest, the memory of Findlay Cameron 'will remain for years in the hearts of those who knew him well., Although he worked in the minds of Cobalt and' as' a brick layer in many other areas, he al- ways retained his love of farm life| and the sight of a good team »9f horses never failed to arouse his 'enthusiasm. Once again I've had my favorite ball | players, the New Liskeard Lions Midgets at my home for their annual 'bean supper. though they didn't make the All- Ontario championship this~ year, they; did a marvellous job of try- ing. I'd have given my eye teeth, (if I had thém) 'to have seen the games. Playing against Oshawa, their first game; played the' night they arrived there, they went into twelye innings' "without -a 'run 'on either side, then Oshawa- finally made it 1-0. The second'game was the same 1-0. But with four Northern Ontario and two All Ontario» championships to their credit they have a record to be proud of. There were. thirty-seven of us when the boys, their parents, coach and manager arrived Saturday night, and there's never enough don't care as long as. there's beans and pie. And, -bless_ their hearts, they gave me a wonderful case that will keep at my finger- tips, all the: picture slides that I took on my trip -overseas. and .a good many more as well. In the current fiscal year the fed- eral government will collect from the public and then turn over to the provinces -- in the form of subsidies, grants and other . pay- ments: -- a total of $1,212,000,000, a sum about equal to the amount that the provinces will collect on their own behalf. | eae illustr Family': Monument" be eae Orillia Heiteybury, Ont. a Mey! een FF ss Y MONUMENT For Bo free copy of Rock of ges' n new ed booklet *'How To Choose visit us today.
