The Editor, Dear Sir, May I, through your paper, offer some criticism of Remembrance Day Service held in Haileybury? I am sure many people leave the Cenotaph with a feeling that the dignity and true meaning is al- most pushed aside. This is the time when we pay very special tribute to our war dead, by join- ing together in a reverent service of remembrance. When the Last Post and Reveille is sounded, many comrades pass in review to the veterans who were spared, and many loved ones pass again before those who knew, loved and lost them. Why not let us leave the Cenotaph with that sound in our éars, and our memories soft- ly with us? Why break the past by the indignity of business firms' names being read out as tthe youth of our town, dressed in various uniforms place wreaths? Could this not be done in silent dignity? I do not mean to take from the idea of the merchants placing the wreaths. They too want to pay their tribute. I would suggest that their names could appear in the Haileyburian following the service. As a last thought may I appeal to the parents of young boys to train them to remove their hats and to stand at attention for not only the National Anthem and O' Canada, but also for the Last Post and Reveille? Although they may be too young to know the true meaning of the service, there_ is no time like the present to teach them. Yours sincerely, Vickie Cassidy (Mrs.) The value of forest production exceeds that of the mines. eae William Martin Again Reeve for Coleman Township The first of the district returns on Municipal elections finds the perennial Reeve of Coleman Town- ship heading the list.
