District Deputy Governor | Visits Cobalt Lions Club COBALT Buck, Deputy District Governor of, Lions International District A-6 paid his official visit to the Cobalt Lions Club at their dinner meeting held last Monday night in the Legion Lounge. A short Remembrance Ceremony was held before the dinner meet- ing got under way with Bob Sopha reading a special Armistice Poem and Murray McKinnon reading the Honour Rolls of the First and Se- cond, World Wars. Two minutes si- lence was observed in memory of the fallen. The Deputy District Governor was introduced by Lloyd Hum- phreys and gave a short talk on the Functions of a Lions Club and outlined the various duties of its officers, etc. Mr. Buck congratu- lated the Cobalt Club on the fine manner in which they handled the recent District A4 Fall Rally. The next District Rally will be held in Kapuskasing the first week-end in May. The Deputy District Gover- nor was thanked by president Er- nie Thibeault. Ted Bilodeau reported that the Light Bulb Campaign was going very good, final returns were not available as yet. President Ernie Thibeault called on Past President Pat Slaght to present 100 per cent attendance pins to the following: Lawrence Buck, 11 years; Ernie Thibeault and Hubert Audette,-6 years; Jerry Presse and Albert Riley, three years; Murray McKinnon, two years; Ted Bilodeau, Lloyd Hum- phreys, and Albert Svekers, one year. A donation was approved for the Children's Aid Society. A letter was received from the Fire De- partment asking the club to put a float in the Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 5, and it was decided to go ahead with this project. New Members At Haileybury Club Curling at the local Club got under way last week with over thirty new members joining the ladies section and several new ones in the men's. There were only three games drawn up for the Ladies in the first competition to get the new members acquainted with the tech- nique of the game and some keen interest was shown, There were fifteen rinks in the evening and four in the afternoon. In the second competition there will be eighteen rinks as the after- noon group will play in the even- ing until after Christmas. At a meeting of the Ladies sec- tion of the Curling Club Mrs. J.
