This is the largest membership recorded -- in many years. The following mem- bers were elected as officers for the coming year - Peter Bond, president, Rodney Doran, Vice- president and Chuck Fleming, Sec- retary-Treasurer, Last Thursday the first curling session got under way under the capable supervision of the follow- ing students from the Provincial Institute of Mines, Gordon Stib- .barts, Guy Marston, Ronald Man- ning and Mike Jennings. High- School curling in the Town of Hail- eybury is sponsored by the Hailey- bury Board of Education and the Cobalt - Haileybury Curling Club. This is the first year that the Haileybury High School curlers were able to join the Northern Ontario High School Curling Asso- ciation. The district playdowns this year will be held at Kapuskas- ing and the winners advancing into the finals which will be played at Port Arthur. The Dominion finals this year will be played at Noranda with each province in the Dominion of Canada being represented. The players that will most likely represent Haileybury are Bob Tyson, Rodney Doran, Peter Bond and Jack Buffam. All four are quite experienced curlers having participated for at least four years in school curling. Mission Circle Sees New Film The Lorna Dobbs Mission Circle was host to members of New Lis- keard and MHaileybury Baptist Churches for a Thankoffering meeting held in the Haileybury Baptist Church, Thursday, Novem- ber 26. President Jean Wilson led the devotional period assisted by Mrs. de Vries, Mrs. Kelly, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. C. Gagnon. The highlight of the meeting was was the premiere showing of a film,. "I'll Sing, Not Cry." This film made on the mission field in Angola, Africa depicts the joyless life of the heathen and their rejuv- enation by conversion to Christian- ity. A special thanks to Rev. and Mrs. G. Tranter, Kirkland Lake. who, though unable to be present, arranged for the showing of this film. An offering was received to be sent to the Baptist Missicn Board. Rev. A. England, New Liskeard Baptist Church pronounced the benediction.
