Twenty- eight in all: participated in the event. There were some close and in- teresting games with several ex- tra end ones to determine the winners. . In 'giving out 'the- prizes the president, Clayton Dunn, thanked all who attended the spiel or help- ed in any way toward making it a: success. John Knox who had sisted the president. George Morissette was called on to present the Morissette Trophy and prizes which was the first event and was won by a rink from Tecagami skipped by Bill MacArthur. With him were Lockie Goddard, Jack Guppy and Keith Ewin. The second prize went ta Lorne Umphrey with John Knox, Ted Fritzgerald and Father Lapointe on his rink. A New Liskeard rink skipped by W. Green got 3rd prize with C. Taylor, Pat O'Shaughnessy and Don Glashan. : The fourth prize to Ron Moris- sette, Billie Grozelle, J. C. Mur- phy and Jack Green. The trophy in the second event which was donated by Seagram's was: won by Clayton Dunn, Bill Mallet, Dr. L. McGarry and Roger Campeau. We hear that arrangements are being made for all the protestant Churches of Haileybury 'to hold united services during the first week of the new year one service each night in a different church. The mission Band of. St. And- rew's United: church' was. enter- tained following their meeting last Friday. They' played 'games, made fresh poppea corn, were given Christmas candy and sang carols. ~ They -will not meet again un- til the first week in January. In these days of cars, trucks and trailers, it was a refreshing sight, to see a Tteam of horses pulling .a sleigh along the streets of Haileybury. They were wearing the latest in cold or rain protection blankets and were stepping right along as though they were enjoying life. Last Period Slump Wrecks Cub Lead Against Holy Name New Liskeard Cubs led Holy Name Irish for two periods in the game played at Kirkland Lake Arena on Tuesday evening, and then the roof caved in. The Irish scored five unanswered goals in the last period to take the game going away. Brazeau and Larouche supplied most of the scoring punch for the Cubs -. Brazeau converted three assists by Larouche into a three goal hat trick, and Larouche got an unassisted counter. Belanger scored Liskeard's other goal. Cubs appeared to have the game well in hand at the end of the second period and left the ice with a three goal lead. But the Irish came out fighting in the third and in six minutes had beaten Jelly five times. Campbell got three for the Irish, Savage two, Skalicki, McCabe and Duff, singles. The game was a clean one, with only seven penalties handed out. Holy Name picked up four of the 3: | total. Thursday, December 17, 1959 G. Byles and his rink with K. J. MacDonald, G. Short and .Joe Albert won third prize. Fourth prize went to C. Vachon with M. Kelly, R. Manning and W. Pellett on his rink. Amile Kisnick, representative of Seagram's.was present and pre- sented the trophy and prizes in the second event and also on be- half of the House of Seagram he presented the Club With a beauti- ful painting. In 'the third event with H, Ramey, H. Coull and J. Belbeck came first. A rink from North Bay skipped by R. Minoque with C. Camsell, A. Moyer and J. Dickerson won second. W.
