He was born in Cobalt in 1911 but came to Timmins two years later. It was in April, 1936, that he joined the Timmins Fire Depart- ment. After ten years' service he was promoted to lieutenant and four years later received further promotion when he was appointed eaptain. Early in 1951 he was promoted to fire services instructor with the Ontario Fire Marshal's office. Dur- ing the summer of the same year he took charge of.the department for the fire services. division in Eastern Ontario and was also on the staff of the Ontario Fire Col- lege. He returned to the north in 1952 to take up his appointment of fire inspector. His area stretched from Cobalt to Hearst and his work in- cluded organizing new fire depart- ments, investigation of serious fires and fire prevention. A family man he leave a widow, Jeanne, a 22-year-old son, Robert; and an 18-year-old daughter, Den- lise. His son is a member of the Ontario. Provincial Police Detach- ment at Burks Falls. 'The funeral was held at St. An- thony's Cathedral, Timmins, at 10:30 a.m., Monday. Ronald James Graff Funeral services were held from St. Andrew's United Church. with Rev. -W.. Churchill officiating on Monday afternoon, September 19, for Ronald James Graff, who died ,on September 15. He was born in Haileybury on September 8, 1944 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilfred Graff. He was a student at the Haileybury High School, in Grade Nine. Survivors are his parents, two brothers, Francis and George, and one sister, Ethel, all of Hailey- bury. Acting as. pall-bearers were Fred, Paul and David Douglass, Edward Campbell, Kenneth Walk= er and Glen Harman. Interment was in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Attending the funeral from out- of-town were Mrs. C. Ross, North Bay; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Graff, Whitby; Mrs. Rosanna Hill and Norman Hill, St. Catharines; Mrs. H. Buglehole, Mr. and Mrs. Ka- sher, Miss Sharon Kasher, all of Kirkland Lake; Mr. and Mrs. D, Wills and family, Sault Ste. Marie; Mr. A. Wills, Matachewan; Mr. and Mrs. James Graff, Temis- kaming, Que.; Mrs. W. Walker, North Bay; Mr: and Mrs. J. C. Foster, Mr. A. Connelly, Mrs. S. Antram, all of New Liskeard. Michael Abraham Funeral services were held Mon- day at Grace Church-on-the-Hill, Toronto, for Michael Abraham, 76, Northern Ontario mining pion- eer. He died at his home in Cold- stream, Friday. Born in Lebanon, Mr. Abraham came to Canada more than 60 years ago. He went into Northern Ontario before the railway was built and was closely "connected with mining developments in Co- balt and Gowganda. He built what is believed to be the first opera house in Northern Ontario in New Liskeard in 1905. Mr. Abraham was a member of" Grace Church-on-the-Hill, and of Patricia Lodge, A.F. and A.M. His wife,'the former Louisa Mat- thews, died last February. He leaves his daughters, Rena, and Neda, a son James of Toronto, and John Abraham of St. Catharines; also three sisters.
