The two teams are scheduled. to meet again in Haileybury on Sun- day, October 16 at 2:00 p.m. Liskeard Ti-cals Take First Win By MERV LAVIGNE New Liskeard Ti-Cats, smarting from three successive. defeats, roared back last Sunday afternoon and blanked the Haileybury Rough-' riders 6 to 0. From the opening kick-off the Ti- || Cats out-rushed and out-tackled the Haileybury team. Late in the first quarter Ken McAuley of New Liskeard ran 40 yards on an end run to the Roughriders' one yard line. The Roughriders held on the first try, but on the second down Fudd Tomchick went over center for the touchdown. The convert at- tempt was wide. ; New Liskeard 6, Haileybury 0. In the second half the Roughrid- ers made a concerted effort to tie up the game. On two occasions !|they moved to within 15 yards of the Ti-Cat goal line only to lose the ball on downs each time. Fum- bles were also a major factor with Haileybury losing the ball on at least four occasions by such mis- cues. The Ti-Cats on the other hand looked sharp and alert in providing effective blocking for their ball carriers. The next game, scheduled for Saturday, October 22, at 1:00 p.m. in New Liskeard should be a real thriller. The fol- lowing day the teams will meet in Haileybury at 2:00 p.m. for the final game of the season.
