Mrs. Lymburner, the FWIO presi- dent, cancelled her flight home on 'the night following the convention, to be with me on Wednesday. Rotary Awards To Be Presented 'Robert. Fox was guest «speaker at this week's meeting of.the Hail- eybury Rotary Club when he pre- sented an excellent outline of the Probation system in: Canada in comparison with that of England. A directors meeting is planned for the week in order to revise the allocation of jobs. 'Rotary prizes will be awarded for proficiency in French, Science, Latin and English, at the Com- mencement Exercises at the High | School on Friday, November 25. Both president and. vice-president were absent from last week's meeting because of attacks of flu. Recent new .members inducted into the Club include G. L. Cassidy and Thomas Parry. In introducing them to membership, secretary Clarence Tuer reminded the mem- bers that the Club received it's Charter in March, 1928. A review of the work done by the Club, in- cluding the foundation of the Pub- lic Library, presents a challenge for the present and-the future. Next week's program will be ar- ranged by Lorne Charbonneau. Brownie Meeting Heather "Rodgers and- Susan Brown were the Fairy Queens for the day at the First Haileybury Brownie Pack meeting. Brown -Owl announced that next week the Tweenies would be en- rolled as full fledged Brownies and she asked that during the ~ next two weeks the Brownies think of a good deed they would do for Christmas. Packie taught the girls an ac- tion song and. read them a story which pointed up the evils of greed. Pot Luck Supper Opens Curling The pot luck supper which open- ed the curling season of the La- dies' Section at the Cobalt-Hailey- bury Club was a complete success, with a good -attendance from the two towns. New and. prospective members were welcomed by those whose membership dates . back over previous years. Mixed curling was enjoyed fol- lowing the supper. The first ladies' draw got under way. with the first: games 'starting Monday night, November 14; with seven and nine o'ctock draws ar- November 22. . = Anexecutive meeting was he Wednesday at the home of the president, Mrs. V.
