MAC Memories of Europe These memories are mine and nothing will Erase their outlines from my inner view: The purple heather on a Scottish hill, Aegean Sea with opalescent hue, Paris and Chartres, nobly stained, London with storied places to ex- plore, Kaleidoscopic pageantry I gained To treasure which 1 did not have before, its windows I' gathered wealth wherever I might be And with these views of shadded coloring I made within my heart a gallery Where every canvas is a cherished thing. And often when the quiet moment calls, I pause awhile to look around the walls. Louise Darcy If the. above poem, clipped from the Christian Science Monitor, had just two little words changed in it, it could have been written espe- cially for me! Just change "Ae- gean Sea" to "Irish Sea' and Chartres' to "Germany" aiid every memory is treasured within my heart, ready to be brought out and 'enjoyed over and over again. Elsewhere in this issue is an ar- ticle on the collecting of cigarette boxes to be exchanged for wheel chairs for crippled children. It makes one wonder what type of person could be cruel enough to start such a rumor involving crip- pled children, (who have enough to bear without having their hopes raised and then dashed to the Zround), when they know perfect- ly well it is not true. Some years ago a similar rumor, involving the foil from cigarette boxes, to be exchanged for a See- ing Eye Dog, was going the rounds. The person or persons, |who originated these rumors cer- tainly must have been carrying an umbrella when the quality of mercy was dropping "like the gentle dew from Heaven". We sometimes feel that young people should not head toward teaching unless they are sure they love children and youth more than they do the art, the science, or the math they want to teach. St. Paul Fellowship Plan June Fair The Members' Prayer, repeated in unison, opened the monthly meeting of the St. Paul's Bible Reading Fellowship group, on Tuesday evening at eight o'clock. The Bible reading was taken by Mrs. E. Carriere and the synopsis given by Mrs. George Ninacs} Questions on the month's readings were answered and this was fol lowed by an interesting discussion. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the acting secretary, Mrs. T. Huff and the treasurer's report given by Mrs. Norman Abraham. Plans for the June Fair and the Christmas Bazaar were discussed and it was decided that the mem- bers make a quilt as a project. The meeting closed with the Lord's Prayer and lunch was serv- ed by the committee in charge, Mrs G. Ninaes, Mrs. H. John- ston and Mrs. E. Young. Scout Committee Plans Bottle Drive A bottle drive for May 13 was one of the main items of discus- sion at the monthly meeting of the Haileybury Scout Committee held this week.
