Western Smoke An angry looking sun, sur- rounded by blue haze, prompt- ed many local residents to wonder if a storm might have been brewing last Thursday. Lands and Forests officials say that the haze was from the, giant bush fires burning in Northwestern Ontario. Latest report from the fire zone is that dropping temperatures and increased humidity are helping the fire fighters. Locally no fires haye been renorted. Local Golf Club Hosts Juniors The Sweepstakes Event, with prizes for net scores, was the at- traction. at the Haileybury Golf Club last week-end. Ross David. of Haileybury was the winner of the low net score and also tied with Dennis Gabriel of New Lis- keard for the low gross. Play for the Bagshaw Trophy is now in progress and will continue for the next two weeks. This week-end Haileybury will be host to approximately one hundred junior golfers, who will be compet- ing in the Northern Ontario Junior Championships. Play will start on Thursday, July 6th and continue through Friday.
