LINE-UP Cobalt Squirt Team In Northern Finals The Cobalt Squirt Fastball team is to be congratulated on the fine showing in the Northland Fastball Association Championships played in North Bay on Saturday. They came out of their group as winners with impressive vic- tories over Virginiatown, North Bay and Larder Lake. This put them in the finals against Schumacher, winners of their group. The Cobalt youngsters lost the game which was called at the end of the third inning because of rain. Moneta: Balisle, Merritt, Del- Peter Larabie, Cobalt's pitcher, was the big star of the day, win- ning three games and getting his share of hits, including a three run homer in one of the games. He was presented with a bantam ball for his efforts. The Bag- shaw Trophy event is down to the finals and the winners will be de- clared when Bill Grozelle of Hail- eybury and Doug McCrank of Co- balt meet in the near future. The Gordon Cup, symbolic of junior supremacy, was settled this past week-end, with Murray Black of Haileybury winning the "A"' division (16 to 18 years), and John Horncastle, also of Haileybury, taking second place. The "B" diy- ision winner (14 to 15 years), was Bill Sipprell of New Liskeard, with two Haileybury boys, Mike Umph- rey and Allan Bolan, taking 'sec- ond and third. The "C'"' division (10 to 13 years) was won by George Kemp of New Liskeard with Bruce Black of Hail- eybury following closely behind to take second place. These boys show excellent form and much will be expected of them in the yearg ahead. The Club Championship, "A" section (under 20 handicaps), is almost completed. Gord McKnight and Harry Kemp of New Liskeard will be playing off this week for the right to meet Bill Grozelle, who has already qualified for the finals in this event. The "B"' sec- tion of the Championship has not yet progressed beyond the eights. On Saturday, September 9th, the Parent-Junior competition for the R. A. Morissette Trophy will be played.
