DATED this 19th day of Septem- ber, 1961. J. F. McFarland, MINING COMMISSIONER, s Opens Bridges (Continued from Page One) ed. i In the course of his official du- ties, Mr. Spooner had this to say, "The people of Northern Ontario have many good reasons to rejoice totiay. We have reached another important stage of the improve- ment of our means of communica- tions. We are officially celebrat- ing to-day the opening of the Earl- ton By-pass as well as the. elim- ination, through the construction of two new bridges, of bottlenecks which had for quite some time hampered travel along: roads link- Northern Ontario with the Quebec System to the Hast. Representing as I do the Ontario Government at this function, I must say that I am most happy to join my fellow north-Ontarians in this celebartion. Roads, to us, are like "meat and potatoes" and lots of gravy to hungry men. We will never have enough of them. We need them to open up our unde- veloped resounces. We need them to attract tourists. We need them to cut the costs of transportaion of our products, to cut down the price of goods that our peculiar economic fabric compels us to bring in from the south. Roads, to us, are as important as a good arterial system is to a sound heart." 7) [Bonnie Doon Camp Holds Installations Bonnie Doon Camp D.O.S. meet- ing of Saturday October 14 was opened with Mrs. H.
