Page 4 New Competition For Marksmen - A new Dominion -Marksmen Handgun competition which will be available to Canadians from coast -to coast has just been announced. In announcing the new -compe- -tition, Warren Johnson, executive secretary of Dominion Marksmen The Haileyburian Thursday, November 2, 1961 said it will bring the association's handgun program into line with the small bore rifle program and will provide 11 awards for pistol] shoot- ers. This represents an increase of eight awards to the former hand- gun program. In addition to the bronze, silver and gold lapel which were awarded to qualifying competitors for slow fire handgun shooting, marksmen ean now shoot for silk embroidered crests in timed and rapid fire events and for silver and gold ex- pert shields. Mr. Johnson explained that the awards must be won in a certain order as they indicate the pid fire target. Slow fire-is a rate of fire in which the competitor is allowed ability of the shooter.
