Across the Kitchen Table BY MRS. MAC Tomorrow is the first of -Decem- ber. We have been extremely for- tunate -in our November weather. Just imagine, almost no snow un- til tthe 22nd,°and the temperatures so high that the thermostat could be low, until Sunday night. Mon-! day morning, was, I know, quite 'chilly. I had only one key for my car and when I went out-to start it to come to work, there was a bit of ice in the key hole of the door and for some. unexplainable reason, the tip of the key ibroke off when I tried to get in. I dug it out with a crochet hook, (they are handy things to have around) but had to send an SOS to Sroka's to get the door open and the mo- tor started. In a very short time I was on my way to Haileybury with the Sroka Volks. behind me to see that I didn't slide into the 'ditch or stall the engine. Ken made ~ me two new keys so everthing is fine again, even tho' I did get raz- - ged a bite _ I'm aé_ standing joke around that garage. I don't think they have any other customer who can do as many foolish 'things as I can. * k * Talking about snow. My daughter and her husband and the two boys eame down Sunday and the boys brought their skiis and sleighs along. They couldn't understand why we had no snow when their roads in Englehart had ito be snow- plowed. * € O® I cleaned out the old magazines during tthe week-end saving all the @hristmas ones (for years back, I think) and Sunday night my two daughters and I had a wonderful time going through them.
