In each case a profit must be shown at the end of each year, and divid- ends declared as a result. In the case of the Board of Education you the taxpayers are the shareholders. The dividends shown to you at the end of each year should take the form of well educated sons and daughters. You should be given re- gular reports, through the press, on the proceedings of all Board meet- ings. Financial statements of the years operations should be included in the year end report to the public. This should be done because over half the money paid by you the taxpayer, goes toward the educa- tion of your children, and I suggest it is a moral obligation on the part of the School Board to keep the public informed, whether the public want it or not. I also believe that if the Board is to operate efficiently, it should have clearly defined policies with regard to such things as teacher qualifications, school discipline, public' information, distribution of authority and any other phrase of its operations that may lead to controversy through a lack of such mutually known and understood policies. The School Board, in my opinion, should represent the top authority in all phases of school direction that could come under Board jurisdiction. In this regard it would be desire- able to have a Board made up of people who are independant so they will be able to excerise their own Bood judgement with TEEPEE! to Schoo} Boeet -Susisess; or cut being subjected to eusibis out- side pressure. There appears to be little interest . in our local education on the part of LEGION HALL, HAILEYBURY the public generally. This is sur- b Pee prising considering the importance wat LOONEY*ELLEN of education, and the fact that so : TUESDAY, DECEMBER 5th much of our tax money is in- a -- guns Besa vested. in it. The School Board DEAN JACCER. MMAGANNUUEURSS RVING BERLIN should promote a public awareness of the importance of their in- vestment in every way it can, and keep on promoting it year after year. Find out all you can about your schools. Send your opinios to the Haileyburian for pub- lication so others can know of them. Elected or not, I would like to see other letters in this paper, lots of them. Take an -interest, because it is. your money and your children that we are talking aout. Yours very truly, David W. McLaughlin Dear Sir: It was my privilege to be nom- inated for the School Board, and as tia resident of Haileybury I want to share the responsibility that the Board has to the schools.and people 'of our community, Everyone should be concerned how-and how well their children are ibeing educated. Over half of our} tax dollar is used-for education. . . do you. know how it is spent? We never hear from the school board until their financial state- ment is published. If I am elected, I would like to see more co-operation between the council and school board in this ADEEIICAN UNTERRNA TIONAL, presents VINCENT PRICE t Se iW MacuaCo.or i "CHARLES BRONSON: HENRY HULL* MARY WEBSTER -DAVID FRANAHAM COMPANION THRILLER! snguins nightly at 7:15 only é sSHOCK: f ECHN TECHNICOLOR® (THEATRE WONDER UPON WONDER! = ANNE HEYWOOD -J0SE SUAREZ PIERRE BRASSEUR MME GELN LARA OCCRINI Mi PAO STOPA ano RHO CSA CESARE: FANTOM (NO GARRAN- MARIO CRT EDT PETER ALDO SiN -GUNCO TEDESO "COLUMBIA PICTURES RELEASE: ' SUN., MON. & TUES.
