This book is a compilation of per- spective views and--floor plans of three hundred low and medium priced houses and bungalows. Hamlin â€"History of architecture. Mr. Hamlin says "A history of archi- tecture is a record of man's efforts to build beautifully. The erection of structures devoid of beauty is mere building, a trade and not an art. Only when the idea of beatitjT »« added.to that of use does a struc- ture take its place among works of architecture." In his history he fol- lows this development from primitive and early Egyptian to recent archi- tecture of Europe and the United States. To the student of architec- ture the book is invaluable. William JR. Mc- Cauley, commander of the Depart- ment of Illinois, will be one^ of the principal^ speakers. Commander Mc- Cauley is one of the greatest of the young speakers of the country and ihis opportunity to hear him should not be passed by. At that service there will be the formal presentation to the Wilmette Post of a stand of colors, the Stars •«nd Stripes and the Legion insignia. Several citizensof the village have donated money toward a fund raised fr>r Q»U purpose, and the colors will 'arrive in' plenty of time so tKlt tne presentation can be made that night. There will be further announcement later concerning speakers and music. The Post is collecting clothes to be taken to the offices of the Service Department in the Conway Building. Chicago.
