WILMETTE LIFE, FRIDAY, JULYJ5'-!924- P. S. OFFICIAL ON RADIO BODY Frank E. Goodnow Named By Mayor Dever Frank E. Goodnow, electrical en- g neer of the Public Service Company of Northern Illinois, will represent the public on the Mayor's Radio Commis- sion of Chicago. He has just been ap- pointed by Mayor Dever, who selected WILMETTE TAKES RUBBER GAME FROM GREAT LAKES Wilmette has been witnessing a first class brand of baseball over at the 17th street lot and the best of the season's tilts to date have been staged between the locals and the agile ag- gregation representing the Great I Lakes Naval Training station. Sunday last saw the third of the Wilmette Lakes games and it went to the locals 6 to 2. Great Lakes de- feated the Wilmette crew on July 4, by a 5 to 4 count, and the home boys annexed the first engagement earlier in the season, I to 0. For five innings there was nothing doing in the scoring line last Sunday, but after that action was thick and fast. The Lakes crowd broke the ice and nicked the home station twice in the sixth when they combined a walk, theft, a screeching triple and a squeeze play for a count of two. In the seventh the A. C's. came back and tied the count and in the eighth hopped on the opposing hurler for a flock of hits good for a quartet of markers. Pederson, a former Western leaguer, essayed mound duty for the sailors and did right well until the fateful eiehth when he was replaced by Bremer. Miller went the distance in fine shape for the locals. This Sunday Wilmette hooks up against a highly touted Waukegan nine on the local grounds. Game time is 3 o'clock. There are seats in the shade.
