Dennis S. Kloepfer, 953 Spruce street, Winnetka, has the honor of being the longest, continuous resident of New Trier township. He was born on May 18, 1852, on a farm contained in Section 29, just south-west of Winnetka, and has lived his entire 87 years and 4 months within the township. He was married On November 26, 1874, to Laura Wilhelm, whose father operated a brick manufacturirg plant on his farm nearby.
Mr. Kloepfer’s parents came to America in 1840, and settled in the Winnetka neighborhood. Like many of the thrifty, sturdy pioneers, he engaged in farming, and accunmlated considerable property. They had a family of nine children, only three of whom are now living.
Mr. Kloepfer, who is the father of Postmaster Arthur M. Kloepfer (Winnetka) followed farming for many years, and later engaged in building construction. his handiwork is shown in great many houses along the North Shore.
