Description
- Full Text
Mrs. Helen R. Ketchum, 1054 Linden avenue, is one of the older residents of Wilmette. She was born in Troy, N. Y., on November 4, 1850, and will soon reach her 89th milestone. She was married in Chicago on October 20, 1872, to William Dennison Ketchum, and fifty-two years ago the couple moved to Wilmette, where she has since resided. The first family home was at 1608 Walnut avenue, where they lived until 1913, when they moved to the present address at 1054 Linden avenue.
Mrs. Ketchurn, whose memory is remarkably clear for one of her advanced age, has seen Wilmette grow from a primitive pioneer community to its present size and population. She possesses a fund of information of people and events of the village’s earlier days.
