- Fischer, a 19-year Army officer, is human resources manager for the 3rd Infantry Division, handling personnel issues. Fischer said the surge in Iraq is a key to high morale among the soldiers. Fischer's wife, Kris, son Alex, age 5, and daughters Paige, 15, and Sarah 12, live in Fort Stewart, Georgia. His parents, Paul and Lee, life in Wilmette.
