- George McGovern, 85, appeared Saturday night at a Democrat fund-raiser in Deerfield. The former Democrat contender for president and former U.S. Senator from South Dakota criticized the Iraq War. McGovern spoke in addition, of his daughter, Teresa who died in 1994, and his wife of 63 years, Eleanor, who died in January.
