Mrs. Gates Again Heads Woman's Club

At the annual luncheon and election of officers at the Wilmette Woman's Club the following members were elected. Mrs. Henry B. Gates, president; Mrs. D. M. Gallie, vice-president; Mrs. B. F. Brown, second vice president; Mrs. E. L. Fitz-Randolph, third vice president; Mrs. John A. Rippel, recording secretary; Mrs. Herbert C. Arms, corresponding secretary; Mrs. F. D. Day, treasurer; Mrs. T. M. Braithwaite, cairman philanthropy and civics; Mrs. Van Dyke, chairman art and literature; Mrs. Albert Page, chairman music; Mrs. George L. Martin, chairman child and home; Mrs. Hannah, chairman house; Mrs. E. O. Blake, chairman Young Woman's auxiliary; Mrs. C. C. Mitchell, chairman program; Mrs. Charles Wanner, Chairman social committee.
The long tables which filled both the auditorium and club room were decorated with candles in pink shades, pink sweet peas and simlax. One hundred and ninety of the club members were present, and the dainty four-course luncheon was served by the girls of the auxiliary.Ruschmann After luncheon the ballots were distributed and the election took place. The afternoon ended with a program consisting of songs by Miss Dorothy Macauley and readings by Mrs. S. S. Sherman, a Wilmette woman who has become well known as a writer of children's stories and verses. She read her original verses, "Sweethearts," "Life's Senses," and "Wildflowers," and the dialect stories, "The First Adventure in Matrimony," "Scrambled Eggs," "Mandy," and as an encore, "Nurses' Stories." Miss Macaulley sang beautifully the following songs, "Sacrament," by MacDermid; "June," by Lulu Jones Downtug, and "Two Songs," by Danel Protheroe.- Featured Link
