It was a real tragedy on Friday December 16, 1960 when Mr. Baltz son Stephen less than one month away from his 12th birthday when he was killed in the crash of United Airlines Flight 826 from O'hare International Airport in Chicago to Idelweild now JfK Airport in New York.
Stephen Baltz was traveling alone aboard United Airlines DC 8 Jetliner Main Liner will Rogers Flight en route to visiting his grandmother in Yonkers, NY for the Christmas holiday 826 when it collided with a TWA Lockheed Constellation Star of Sicily Flight 266 over Staten Island New York.
Mr. Baltz was a little reluctant about Stephen traveling alone. It was the first time he traveled on a plane by himself on a plane.
