Virginia D. Wheelan, 73, a former resident of Winnetka, died on Thursday, Dec. 18, from multiple injures she sustained in a traffic accident in Durham, N.C. Mrs. Wheelan was born in Chicago on Dec. 22, 1929, the daughter of C. Colton Daughaday and Marion Esther Sharpe of Oak Park. She is survived by her husband Latham E. Wheelan; her three children, Lynn Wheelan Smith of Greenwood, S.C., Nancy Wheelan Metzloff of Durham, N.C., and David Fairfax Wheelan of San Francisco, Calif.; her sisters, Eleanor D. Popper of New York, N.Y., and Deborah D. Anderson, of Fremont, Calif.; a brother, William H. Daughaday of Balboa Island, Calif.; her three grandchildren, Jessica Marion Smith, Emily Wheelan Metzloff, and Christopher Latham Metzloff; her son-in-law, Thomas B. Metzloff; and nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held Monday, Dec. 22 at St. Philip's Episcopal Church in Durham, N.C. and another will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 27 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 910 Hudson Road, in Greenville, S.C.
