Members of the board of directors of the Wilmette Chamber of Commerce were the pallbearers Tuesday of this week at the funeral services for Miss Ruth Amelia Forberg, secretary of the Chamber of Commerce, who passed away Saturday, July 16, after an illness of ten days. Virtually every commercial interest in the community was represented at the services in the North Shore Methodist Episcopal church at Glencoe in tribute to the memory of one who has been so largely responsible for the remarkable growth in numbers and influence of the civic group of business and professional people.

The active pallbearers were Dr. Charles B. Blake, Henry B. Gates, Lloyd Hollister, Bernard Meyer, Dan G. Stiles, B. B. Udell, George White, and A. C. Wolff. Members of the Chamber of Commerce were honorary pallbearers.

Rev. Harold C. Case of Glencoe and Dr. Horace G. Smith Wilmette conducted the services.

Miss Forberg had been at her desk in the Chamber of Commerce Office in until Wednesday, July 6. Early last week she fell into a state of coma, for which she failed to rally.

Serves Three Administrations
Miss Forberg had been secretary of the Chamber of Commerce for about seven years, having served through three administrations or virtually since the inception of the Chamber, which was an outgrowth of the former New Trier Commercial Association. Her unfailing devotion to the interests of the Chamber and her ceaseless attention to the myriad details attendant upon the efficient functioning of the executive offices of the organization were contributions of immeasurable value. Her passing represents an irreparable loss to the commercial folk of the community.

Coupled with their duties to the Chamber of Commerce, was the service Miss Forberg rendered to the Wilmette Community Chest association with which she was also associated in an executive capacity.

Business Women's Leader
Miss Forberg was one of the organizers and the former president of the Club for Business and Professional Women of Wilmette.

She was well known among Chamber of Commerce leaders throughout the state through her affiliation with the state association of Chamber of Commerce secretaries.

Miss Foberg attended New Trier High school and was for a time active in business with her father in Hubbard Woods where she had lived since childhood. Mr. Forberg, a leading Winnetka grocer, passed away several years ago.

Surviving Miss Forberg are her mother, Mrs. Amelia N. Forberg; two sisters, Mrs. Serena F. Jenkins, and Miss Mabel M. Forberg, and a brother, Carl A. Forberg.

Burial was at Memorial Park.
