Rev. Joseph Rubey of St. Joseph's, summoned by death

The Rev. Father Joseph Rubey, assistant pastor at St. Joseph's Catholic church, Ridge and Lake avenues, since 1925, died at St. Francis hospital Wednesday, September 19, after an illness of three months. Father Rubey had spent most of August in the Adirondack mountains of New York attempting to regain his health. He was taken to the hospital soon after his return to Wilmette.

Father Rubey came to Wilmette three years ago from Blue Island, Ill. Since then he has been assisting the Rev. J. A. Neumann at St. Joseph's church.

Surviving him are four sisters, Catherine Rubey, Clara Rubey, Mrs. Frances Young, and Mrs. Anna Arzbecker, and one brother, Charles A. Rubey, all of Chicago.

The remains rested at the residence of a sister, Mrs. Frances Young, 7924 Constance avenue, Chicago, until Sunday noon, whence they were taken to St. Joseph's church in Wilmette to lie in state from 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon until requiem high mass at 10 o'clock Monday morning. Burial was at St. Boniface cemetery.
