- Chef Michael Altenberg, a Wilmette resident, died suddenly March 10 at his home. He was 48. At the time of his death, he was executive chef and owner of Bistro Campagne in Chicago. Comments about his career by his wife, Julie Fabiszak, married in 2008. Besides his wife, Mr. Altenberg is survived by his sons Elias, Henry and Isaak from a previous marriage; his parents, Dr. Barry Altenberg (Michele) and Rhona Stern (Dr. Louis); his brother, Jonathan (Marah) Altenberg; and sisters Lisa (Marc) Hershaft, Beth Stern and Deborah Stern; as well as many nieces and nephews.
