Area LWV To Discuss Red China The problems, policies and history of Red China will be discussed at a North Shore area League of Women Voters meeting Nov. 3 in Skokie. The all-day session, in which 12 north suburban Leagues will participate, will begin at 10 a.m. in the Devonshire Community Center, 4400 Grove Dr. Dernberger St. The morning session will include a panel discussion by four League members on the subject, "China, Past and Present." Participants will be Mrs. William Sauer of Glenview, Mrs. C. D. Fiester of Lake Forest, and Mrs. Bernard S. Hattis and Mrs. Arnold Levy, both of Winnetka. The public program is part of the area League's study of China and the United Nations. Interested persons may make reservations with League members in their community through Wednesday. Teaches Course A widely known author and traveler, Dr. Dernberger is now teaching a course dealing with the economic development of modern China. His knowledge of the Mandarin language enabled him to travel throughout China and talk with leaders and peasants while on duty a few years ago with the army in Japan and Korea. He also recently testified before the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee on China's current role in Asian and world politics. Participating Leagues are Deerfield, Evanston, Glencoe, Glenview, Highland Park, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest,: Morton Grove, Northbrook, Skokie, Wilmette, and Winnetka.
