WILMETTE LIFE October 9 Maintains Police Used Rough Tactics in Speeding Arrest Arrest of his son, Rutherford, last Saturday on a charge of speeding, prompted B. B. UdeiJ, J02 Park avenu~, to appear before the Village board Tuesday of this week, and register complaint relative to what he main.:tained ·were unwarranted rough tactics employed by members of the Wilmette police department in connection with th'e arrest. Mr. Udell. in revie\\'ing the incident, aiJeged .·that the policeman who made the arrest and other members of the department had indulged in tactics that were not only unnecessary but actually unjwstified and outside their province. He stated that his son had been accorded abusive treatment and placed in a cell while a young woman companion was left alone in the car near the Village hall. He said the youth had not been given an arrest slip, and was forced to remain ~n custody until released upon appearance of his father. He asked the Yillage board to recommend that the case be dismissed. President Orner informed :Mr. Udell that the matter would be taken under advisement by the board.
