Vacation season is here and with It the consequent leave-taking of many Wilmette families for stays of weeks vr even months in resorts far removed from home. All of which, .in turn, creates a problem for the police. Homes vacated over extended periods are the special delight of thieves and P:owlers and well Chief Leggett and hts stalwarts know it. Hence the following timely suggestions 'to every householder in the village: When you leave your home unoccupied, whether it be for the evening, a few days, weeks or longer please notify the police so that yo;r home may. be t sted. among those demanding speCial attentiOn by the patrolmen on the beat. In no instance where such precau tion has been taken by the householders, has a prowling or burglan· occurred, according to the police. It is a. form of precaution that costs nothing more than the trouble to step to the phone and ·call the desk sergeant on duty. The police regard ~ uch action as a distinct favor. ~fiss Paisley Ball of 936 Hill road had as her guest last week-end Miss Frances Stewart of Schenectady K y a classmate at Wells college.'· iris~ Ball entertained in honor of her guest at luncheon Monday at the Tndian H'JJ (. 1 o untry cluh . - o~Ir , d ~i D ld J H k' . · · an · r~ ona . os ms of l olumbus, Oh1o, announce the birth oi a daughter, Barbara Juliet on H k' f ' J ul) · 16· 'f '"" rs. .os ms was ormerly ~!tss Dorothy Ihff, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John \V.
