SD FOR lARCH 17 Five Hundred Athletes from Middle West Schoola to Participate in Big Eveat Speed will be the keynote Saturday, March 17, when more than 500 athletes gather for the eleventh annual University of Illinois indoor relay carnival in the Illini armory. Recognized as th.e greatest indoor , relay event of the year, the meet will attract the pick of the Big Ten, Missouri Valley, Little Nineteen, and other universities, high schcools, and colleges throughout the United States. That the meet has grown to represent the best in kat:k is evidenced by the fact that five world's records have suffered since the meet started in 1917. Nor will the track be the only place where speed is practiced as the management plans to unfold the big affair between the hours of 7 :30 and 9 :30. Eiaht Relay Races There will be eight relay races. The university relays, one mile, two and four miles and medley races will be held at night as will the finals in the special events. College and high school relays, the all-around competition and the preliminaries in the special events will be staged · in the afternoon. Special events will include the 75yard dash ; high apd low hurdles ; 300yard, 1,000 yard, and 1,500 meter runs; high and broad jump, and pole vault and shot-put. Expect 4,111 Spectators Now that the relay meet is to be held later in the year when there are prospects of better weather for outof-town fans, it is expected that more visitors than ever before will travel here.
