...._.... Caild Ce·.-, to Totlr Narda Shan · C.·.tJ , Velaicle Next Week ist~ fashion will distinguish the com- - Stage settings executed in modern- ., I ing North Shore Theatre Guild produc.tion, "Tons of Money," from previous plays presented by this popular amateur group. There will be Mrs. Laird Bell, of Wi.nnetka, always a popular interpreter of droll, eccentric characters, who scored a remarkable hit in the well remembered · part of Hester, in the Guild's production of Milne's "Ariadne" last year. Mrs. Bell appears frequently. as a reader on the programs of north shore women's clubs. In the part of Miss Benita Mullett, an inquisitive maiden lady whose deafness causes no end of misunder ::tanding, Mrs. Bell will provide much of the spice of the new Guild production. Another experienced Guild player is Julia Hanks Mailer, for three years dramatic coach of the Roycemore School for Girls. Her past Guild successes include leading parts in "Autumn Fire," "Enchanted April," "The Red Robe," "Outward Bound" and "Enchanted Cottage." For over a year Mrs. Mailer was a member of th~ Wisconsin Players in Milwaukee, and· was very active while at the University of Wisconsin in student productions. In "Tons of Money" she is to play the part of Jean Everard, an impressionable widow with strong. romantic tendencies. . Faaat ia laaportaat ltole Also a former member of the Wisconsin Players is Paul Faust, of Evanston, who has been for the past year a stock actor at Rockford, Ill. As the crafty butler who is one of the key-characters in the comedy, he wiD make his first appearance with the Theater Guild As previously announced, the two leading parts will be taken by Louis Ellsworth Laflin, of Lake Forest, and Mrs. Irene Wicker, of Evanston. These players also have had extensive experience, Mr. Laflin having written, composed, directed and acted in two of the Princeton Triangle club's annual musical comedy offerings, and Mrs. Wicker having spent several years in stock, and attended the dramatic school of the Goodman theater. Eaper~a ia C1aancter Two members of the cast who need no· introduction to north shore audiences are William Boyden of Winnetka, and Lloyd Faxon, also of Winnetka. In last year's spectacular Guild production of Shakespeare's '~Henry IV," featuring the well known English ·actor, Basil Sydney, Mr. Boyden played the important role of the old king. Mr. Faxon, also an able interpreter of difficult character parts, again joins the Guild after a two years' absence, his last play being "Plots and Playwrights." Charles Eastman, too, is back with the Guild again, playing one of his inimitable comedy roles that have made his work so well liked in seasons past. He will be remembered for his spendid acting in "The Detour" last ·year. With William Pearce and Edith M. Phillips of Highland Park to complete the cast, "Tons of Money" may be truly said to be an all-star amateur production. Its long run in London, coupled with the fact that it has never b~n seen in either Chicago or New York, promises that Director David Owen's next offering will be an es" pecial treat. , The first performance of "Tons of Money" is set for Glencoe on April 24. Then follow nights in Highland Park, Lake Forest and Winnetka, on April 25, 26, and ZJ; and in Wilmette """ Evanston on May I, 2 and 3. AD-Star rJII'~u~~~tc~~a.
