A two-day trip to Springfield and vicinity for the purpose of visiting places of historical interest was planned for this Friday and Saturday · for parents and students of the upper grades at the Joseph Sears school in Kenilworth. The chief reason for taking the trip, according to a bulletin sent to the parents, is to "stimulate the interest of the children in the history and civics of Illinois." A similar trip conducted by the school last year was highly successful. Supt. E. L. Nygaard, of the Joseph Sears school, · is in charge of arrangements for the trip. Several parents have volunteered their cars. Those making the trip planned to leave early this Friday morning, arriving at Springfield in time for luncheon. Tentative plans for ·Friday after-· noon called for visits to Lincoln's old .h ome, Lincoln's tomb, and the state capitol and other state buildings. Early Saturday morning the excursion was to proceed to Petersburg and the state park to the original site of New Salem. Those in charge of tRe excursion feel that a visit to the historic shrines of Illinois will be of great benefit to the children making the trip. = Plant Now No matter how fine or mild the weather is, the fall planting days are limited.
