WILMETT£ LIFE November 9, 1928 Read All About the 54TH ANNUAL CONVENTION Intra-Mural Season at New Trier H.S. to Close This Week As the intra-mural football season drew to a close at New Trier High school this week the "Chicago" team was leading the intra-mur 1 league in the heavyweight divisiop while the "Army" was leading in the lightweight division. "Army" defeated "Yale" 25 to 0 and the "Navy" romped over "Harvard" by the same score in games played on Monday. The "Purdue""Chicago" game, which was to have been played Tuesday was postponed until Thursday. To those who appreciate quick service, to those who enjoy eating food served on immaculate linens, midst harmonious surroundings minus the noise and clatter of dishes usually found in most eating places. One of the eighth gr4de students will give a humorous monologue and Mrs. F. W. Fuermann will sing, accompanied by Mrs. R. F. Neukranz. Miss Margaret Hayes will give a report of the recent conference. A kindergarten teacher will . amuse little children in their own attractive room while their mothers attend the meeting and the social hour following it. This program is arranged by the seventh and eighth grade mothers under chairmanship of · Mrs. James Fletcher and the P. T. A. board members will serve as a reception committee. At the conclusion of the membership drive a total of 600 members was reported and there were nine rooms which turned in 100% , namely, Mrs. Vernon, Mrs. Clarke, Miss Stevens, Miss Fox, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Julian, Miss Johansen, Miss Scott, Miss McPartlin and Miss Smith. One of the very enjoyable room teas was held Nov. 1 for Mrs. Julian and mothers of her sixth grade pupils at the home of Mrs. Albert Ullric, 925 Lake avenue, assiste.Q by Mrs. Craig and Mrs. Balhalchet. Miss Brown Miss Fox and Miss Johansen wer~ ~also ptesent and entered into the discussion of school methods and prob1 lems. Mrs. Wm. F. Arnold was hostess to the mothers of third grade taught by Mrs. Burtner and Mrs. Harry Barn· hill entertained in honor of Miss Mc Partlin. These informal home round tables have offered a splendid opportunity for a sympathetic touch between mothers and teachers that would be impossible at a public meeting. Legion Post Will Attend Sunday Armistice Service After attending the District meeting , of Morton Grove Post last Saturdav, Wilmette Post No. 46, American Legion, comes back facing a busy week. Sunday at 7 :45 o'clock in the evening, the post attends the Sunday Evening club Armistice day services, November 11. Assembly will be at 7 :30 o'clock at St. Augustine's · Club house. Tuesday, November 13, another distrkt meeting will be held with Peter J. Huerter Post of Wilmette, as the host. Entertainment will follow the meeting. Assembly is at 8 o'clock at St. Augustine's Club House. The regular November meeting will be held the following week at the usual place. The meeting was postponed one week because of a desire to help Huerter Post in its meeting as host to the seventh district. Come around and let us all get acquainted.
