' WILMETTE LIFE November 23, 1928 Choir Singer 50 One-Sided Scores Feature Women's Basketball Cames Years Is Honored \Vith the exception of a neck and neck battle between the Rinky Dink team and the O'Kay team, last, week's games in the women's basketball league resulted i n exceptionally one-sided scores. The Rinky Oinks and the· O'Kay game was hotly contested _and resulted in a tie when the final whtstle had blown. In the play-off which followed, the Rinky Dinks got the edge by one point on a free throw and won the game 20 to 19. Results of the games were: by Fellow Chorists Paul Nanzig, Ridge avenue florist for the last twenty-five years, was the. guest of honor Tuesday evening of last week at a . dinner given in the St. Joseph's church basement to the choir members and ushers by the Rev. John A. Neumann, pastor. The oc casion was Mr. Nanzig's golden an ·· niversary as a choir member. Mr. Nanzig, who began his ~areer in the children's choir group at the age of ten, was unaware of the testimonial to him until he reached the scene of the affair. After the dinn·~r he was presented with a chimes clock. He responded with . reminiscences oi Wilmette in an earlier day, stating that the St. Joseph's school fifty years ago was located a block west of Ridge road on Lake avenue. It was later moved to a site just east of the pres ent church building, where it is . now used as the. janitor's home. It was from this school that Mr. Nanzig wa graduated. Mr. Nanzig was born in the hotuL· where he now resides. The homestead is eighty years old. .
