December 14, 1928 WILMETTE LIFE Purple Draws Most of Her-Stars From Old Home State One half of the seventy-two freshmen who were awarded numerals for participation in football at Northwestern during the season just closed were from Chicago. Fifty-seven of the seventy-two freshmen hailed frotn the state of Illinois. The preponderance of Chicago and Illinois boys on the grid team carried over to the varsity team where nineteen of the twenty-nine players winning major letter awards were from Illin()is. Eighteen of the twenty-one players who won minor letters for participation on the second team were from Illinois.
