Expert N.ll. Track Team to Make Good Showing This Year Despite the Joss of a number of star athletes, including Capt. Bill Droegemueller, pole vaulter, AI Bagge, shot putter and Frank Rettig, high jumper, the Northwe,;tern track team appears to be welJ fortified in most events and should make as strong a showing as last season. The team will probably not stack up quite so strong in the indoor season as. outdoors since a number of the prospective candidates are members of the basketball squad. Capt. John Gorby appears to be the strongest entrant in the half mile. Besides being a consistent performer in the 880 he is also a member of the relay team which usually places well up in conference competition. Other middle distance men from last year artSam Bloomberg, Bert Fox, and Earl Wilkins. Rut Walter, basketball star, will be available for the outdoor season in the quarter and the relay. Sophomore half mile and quarter mile candidates include Eddie Farrell, former Crane high school star, and Eddie McAuliffe, who shows promise. Etnar Hermansen should be amon({ the top notchers in the conference this year as far as the sprints are concerned. Sophomore candidates in the sprint!' are Don Green, Peter Lattman and C. Lundberg. Pole Vaultera Show Promiae Four sophomore pole vaulters, all of whom show promise, arc Tom \Varne, Scott Ingle, F. Lundberg and Dean Klarr. Several of these boys will get up around 13 feet this season, it is expected. The hurdle candidates, although not brilliant wiiJ probably win more points than usual in this event.
