A_ few years ago a prominent woman 111 Hubbard Woods was killed at one of these crossings. The result was a mass meeting of Winnetka citizens, but apparently that was the end of it. We still go on wondering how much. lon~er we witl permit this infamous sttuatt.on to continue. I know of no suburb m the eastern part of this country where such a condition has been allowed as long as it has on our north shore·. Evanston demanded the raising of the tracks years ago and it was done and we hear no more of level crossing fatalities in this community, still, our north shore which is far-famed for its progressiveness, community spirit and all the other attributes of fine citizenship, does nothing, apparently, on the level crossing danger. Possibly a public clamor instituted by your publications in this vicinity might bring the desired result. I am, Yours truly, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Burchard, 310 A Winnetka Citizen.
