Hutchens and Harry Pifer of the New Trier English department and members of last year's New Trier debate te.a ms acted as judges. About twenty students tried out for places on the teams and the competition was close. Veterans on Squad Lois Goldstein, a senior, Lowell Comee and Albert ' Denton, juniors, and John Curtis, a sophomore, were members of New Trier's debate squad last year. Jack Loeb, one of the other students selected for this year's squad is a former president of the Gavei club, New Trier debating organization. Jack is a senior. Helen Bosle\· and Dorothy Schoenfield, both seniors, were members of ,the ~ ranglcr s cltt1), .~·iris' debating organization at Kew : Trier which has been cot1solidated with the Gavel club. Bill Horsting, a junior and one of the alternates on this Year's squad. has been a member of the ·Gavel . club for t\\·o years. Jack Hosking, a sophomore, is the only inexperienced member of the squad. Debates have already been arranged with Kenosha High school and with ! Morton High school of Cicero and Solon Reily, debate manager, is corresponding with other schools in an effort to arrange other matches for 1\e'.Y Trier. I merce held its regular November meeting Monday night, November 4, with an unusually large number of members in attendance. The .Wilmette Masonic temple was selected as the Chamber's permanent meeting place, and the bylaws of the organization were adopted with slh:~ht changes. Dr. C. H. Eldred, chairman of the · entertainment committee, outlined in detail plans for the Chamber's annual banquet to be held next Tuesday, and following his talk by the Chamber. POSTPONE MEETING The regular November meeting of the Kenilworth Village board was postponed from Monday night of this week to Wednesday night because a quorum was not present on Monday.
