February 22, 1929 WILMETTE LIFE Claudia Muzio WillI Bigger & Better Head List- of Talent of Civic Music Assn.:-----------' Claudia Muzio, opera star and concert singer of international fame, will lead the list of artists who will appear in Evanston during the first concert season · arranged by the · Civic Music Association of North Evanston. Jose Majica, Spanish' tenor with the Chicago Civic Opera company, Troy Sanders, pianist, and the International Singers, a male quartet, will provide the remainder .of the concerts which will be given at the Haven school auditorium t}:Je last week in October, the first week in December and the last week in January. Miss Muzio will appear i~ January; Majica and Troy Sanders will give a joint program in October, and the male quartet will provide the December program. The talent committee's choice of talent, ba.sed upon questionnaires distributed among the advisory committee, was announced by Mrs. C. C. \Vells, chairman, at the first concert of the course giv.en Friday evening at Haven school. Deductions, it was announced, were made qn the basis of a two or three years' course of entertainments. Last season the North End Mothers' club, sponsors of the music association, presented an entire piano recital. and Friday evening presented the Amy Neill string quartet and Barre Hill, baritone. Both the quartet and the sing ~ r proved extremely happy selections. The players grouped themselves gracefully in charming picture against the ~tag-e setting and played with a rare skill, choosing delightfully from the fine old familiar things in music, and the audience encored generously. Mr. Hill also made happy selection of his numbers and sang with an extraordinarily fine baritone, receiving a generous appreciation. a·ao·wM EVANSTON J!URM IT.URE CO. 1561 SBEBMAK AVENUE Great Store Wide ' REMOVAL .
